What are the key nutrients for your lawn?

Nitrogen (N) – one of the essential elements for feeding lawns and turfs. Nitrogen is one of the cornerstones supporting growth and regeneration.

Phosphor (P) – an important nutrient for growth and development of roots. A greater amount should be available between germination and rooting after sowing (or additional seeding). It facilitates the use and transformation of solar energy to energy needed for the growth of plants.

Potassium (K) – controls the growth of plant cells. It strengthens cellular tissues and thus supports the resistance of grasses to drought, extremely high or low temperatures and diseases. Potassium is applied before the growing season and during the dry period. With respect to its positive traits for lawns, the ratio of potassium to nitrogen has been recently tending towards a balanced content of 1:1 or 1:2.

Magnesium (Mg) – is very important for chlorophyll production (the green colorant in plants), which is essential for optimal course of photosynthesis.

Trace elements – iron (Fe), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) are important in metabolic processes and keep individual grass plants in good condition. Lack of trace elements may demonstrate through various leaf chloroses (light spots of various sizes and shapes). Their optimal presence helps heavily used lawns and turfs retain their perfect colour. Sulphur (S) is often an unjustly forgotten element important for turfs with intensive load and wear. Due to the reduction of its stock in the soil (desulphurization of pollution sources) it is very important to add this element as part of lawn care and nutrition – sulphur aids nitrogen in protein synthesis.

Application of fertilizer on lawn or turf

The fertilizer must be evenly distributed over the lawn or turf, in doses respecting the instructions on the package.

The fertilizer is applied by scattering over the turf. To ensure even application and correct dosage we strongly recommend using spreaders and scattering trolleys or carts. These small garden appliances ensure balanced and accurate application.

Following application the entire area should be properly watered, supplying 15 – 20 litres per square metre. It is therefore better to apply fertilizer before rain. Always apply fertilizer 2 – 3 days after mowing. Water after application – the fertilizer must be scattered over dry turf.

  • Even application and accurate dosage minimises the risk of turf burning.
  • Always read the label or instructions prior to application.
  • Store in a cool dry place.
